Who performs your hair transplant?
Before choosing a hair-transplant clinic, verify the doctor's registration and qualifications—and ask exactly who will plan and carry out the surgical steps.
A clinic name, a familiar face in an advertisement or a consultation with a doctor does not by itself tell you who will perform the procedure. The questions below help you get a clear answer before you decide.
The short answer
Ask for the name of the doctor responsible for your transplant, check their registration and listed qualifications in the PM&DC practitioners register, and ask who will assess your scalp, design the hairline, harvest donor follicles, create recipient sites and place the grafts. Get the plan, price and aftercare arrangements in writing.

Hair transplantation involves diagnosis, donor planning, surgery and follow-up. You deserve to know who is responsible at every stage—not just the clinic's brand name.
Ask who does each step
Ask who assesses your hair loss, plans your hairline and donor area, extracts grafts, creates recipient sites and performs placement. Clarify the doctor's role and what support staff do.
Know the follow-up plan
Ask who you can contact about healing, unexpected symptoms and longer-term growth, and whether your proposed graft count and price follow an actual donor assessment.

Confirm who assesses your face, hair-loss pattern, donor supply and long-term coverage goals.
Who performs the surgical steps?
Ask separately about donor extraction, recipient-site creation and graft placement. Do not assume the person you met at consultation does every step.
How is the graft plan decided?
Ask for a realistic estimate based on your donor area, recipient area and future hair-loss pattern—not a guaranteed number from a photograph alone.
Who handles follow-up?
Ask for written aftercare guidance and a clear contact pathway if you have concerns during recovery.

Search the official PM&DC practitioners register by registration number, full name or father's name. Review the licence validity and registered qualifications shown there. If anything is unclear, ask the doctor to explain it before booking surgery.
Does meeting a doctor at consultation mean that doctor will perform my transplant?
Not necessarily. Ask who will be present on the procedure day and who will perform the hairline design, donor harvesting, recipient-site creation and placement. Get a direct answer rather than assuming the consultation and procedure team are identical.
Should the lowest price decide which clinic I choose?
Price matters, but it does not tell you who will operate, whether the graft plan fits your donor area or what follow-up is included. Compare a written, individual plan alongside credentials, surgical roles and aftercare.
